In May, DJI was sponsor and official technology supplier of the ADAC Zurich 24h Race at the Nurburgring for the fourth year running, and DJI’s involvement in 2018 was even bigger and better than in previous years.
ADAC Zurich 24h Race
DJI won the prestigious ‘Ambassador of the Year Award’ for its outstanding technical support of the event. Since 2015, DJI has been providing live recordings from exciting perspectives for live broadcasting during the race. Featuring strongly: DJI’s Inspire 2 drone with the DJI Zenmuse X7 camera and its interchangeable lenses to get closer to the vehicles for dynamic filming.
DJI also supported a Mercedes-AMG car driven by Germany’s racing legend and DTM record winner Bernd Schneider and his crew of Christian Gebhardt, Patrick Simon and Jethro Bovingdon. The sponsorship consisted of a picture of the DJI Mavic Air and a prominent logo placement on the roof as well as a logo placement on the bonnet of the Mercedes-AMG GT4 #190. 24 hours later, the car had exceeded expectations by winning in its SP8T class and earning 22nd place overall.
The collaboration was also visible in the ring°boulevard at the Nurburgring, where DJI presented itself with a booth that featured a variety of DJI products as well as a Mercedes-AMG GT R, “The Beast of the Green Hell”, and its flying companion, the DJI Mavic Air AMG edition, which was later raffled off in a prize competition.
Alongside the action taking place on the track, DJI organised a Ronin-S challenge supported by British KOL Simon Cade to demonstrate DJI’s first gimbal for DSLR or DSLM cameras.
Special VIP tours allowed all media and influencers to get their hands on the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 to capture their own 24h Race experience and share it in their articles or vlogs with an online reach of more than 90 million.
For those wanting a look behind the scenes, MotionCTRL was roving around with the Ronin 2 to get an exclusive in-depth look at the Falken team, their rally car and all the race action.
